Hello and welcome to the final episode of Welcome to the Gig for 2022!
This episode is all about Christmas, of course. However, there is a little bit of a twist and it’s something I’ve not done before - played international artists on the show.
Unfortunately, there is a lack of Christmas songs from New Zealand artists, except for the first song that is played on this episode (Simon Hirst’s ‘Home for Christmas’ - review here, so I had to improvise.

Not going to lie, this week was an absolute struggle to find what theme to dedicate the show to.
After some chatting to friends and family, I got given the idea of songs from the 80s, thus, the Welcome to the Gig: 80s Throwbacks episode was born.
I was born in the 90s, so have very little knowledge of the 80s, unfortunately. However, I hope you enjoy the show with some classic Kiwi songs from that era.

Faaaar out my friends, has it been a rollercoaster or what trying to get things to work recently when going live on the show. Great news though - Welcome to the Gig is back and it was the best show ever last night, something that I say from time to time, but this one, hands down, is my favourite for sure.
Luckily, the Flaxxies boys were down to jump on a phone call and talk all things about their new EP, Beach Rudes (out now!), mental health and what flavour they would be if they were a flavour… We may have even created a new song title. Maybe. If you’re not literally rolling on the floor laughing at this big yarn after hearing it… Seriously.

Unfortunately, there was a slight malfunction at the studios and the episode with Sam Bambery was not recorded due to the computer crashing, therefore, I don’t have a podcast episode for this week.
My sincerest apologies for no podcast - it was a brilliant show and Sam was excellent to talk to! His album, Songs About Sailors is a really wonderful take on folk/indie music and it is just waiting for you to tune your ears into.
